Just wondering what people's thoughts on the reviews when people start jumping on people because of their reviews, politics etc. This is different then the UFOLawyer situation, but for example, the My Japan reviews / comments ( http://www.archive.org/movies/movies-details-db.php?collection=prelinger&collectionid=19296&from=mainReviews) have been strongly heated (with some racism) and on occasion, Perversion For Profit (http://www.archive.org/movies/movies-details-db.php?collection=prelinger&collectionid=00895a&from=mostViewed) gets POSITIVE feedback saying Putnam speaks the truth and so forth. I think to be quite honest, that such debate IS quite interesting, and the films invite it.. Mind you, I am not too sure if people who reply to the reviewer have seen the film (in the My Japan case). Strong language is there yes, but it's people being passionate!

What do other people think?

Why not let them have a say? Perhaps, they are irritated by usa control of media. In Australia, an american citizen controls 70% of our daily newpapers (murdoch), and the majority of our news magazines are american owned(Time, readers digest etc) Then again, these poor reviewers may have eaten an american junk food burger or chicken and they are SUFFERING..

It's good if people are passionate, but since this is a film site, it's more appropriate for people to talk specifically about the film they're reviewing when they express their opinions. Ideally, they should refer to a specific part of the film to make their point. The films should be the center of attention, not the reviewers.

I do get the nasty feeling people will write reviews without seeing the film; I mean surely that guy in My Japan doesn't think it's an actual Japanese production!!
